There's a lot of uncertainty in the summer of 2021. It is a concern about the manner in which our service to our society can incorporate the highly appreciated human connection which Rotary members experienced in past time. While the "hands looking out into space" idea is definitely a an integral part of our routine it is clear that the confidence in Rotary is increasing and more people are making acquaintances in person. Rotary is, however, evolved. We are in the summer of 2021, the level of uncertainty concerning whether Rotary will be able to give the same kind of connection that Rotary members had in the past continues. The mantra "hands meet in front of each other" will become one of the routines however, it is clear that there's a rising confidence and a desire to connect face-to face. Rotary is, however, having evolved. Rotary is a community which fosters lasting friendships. The outbreak has forced us to improve our technology methods. We maintain our business online, but we have also introduced a volunteer and social activities. Our newfound opportunities have combined with what we learned from previous outbreaks to bring a fresh and new perspective for Rotary. In a recent Rotary survey, we were encouraged to learn that about 75 percent of clubs are making plans for their "business as usual' initiatives" The warmer months are full of club members on the move, focusing on initiatives such as beaches and rivers being cleaned, trash cleaning, and providing ongoing services for the community from Rotary volunteers who volunteer their time for COVID testing and vaccination centers. The article is in English. Amanda Watkin - General Secretary's Column - Rotary Magazine In an earlier Rotary survey, I was encouraged to see that around 75% of clubs have started planning for their business as usual' events and initiatives that previously helped communities across the continents in Great Britain and Ireland. Furthermore, I'm extremely happy to see that the Rotary Support Team has continued to provide invaluable tools to help promote and help with the various initiatives. Also, they manage infrastructures which keep their members safe as well as protect the public. Insurance and compliance is important. We're extremely proud of how innovative our members can tackle some of society's toughest problems. Rotary has also provided me with a wonderful network of friends who are like-minded. I am grateful for this. Invite your family, friends and colleagues to join the incredible Rotary community.
